As a first time visitor to Edinburgh we decided on a guided walking tour to get a sense of the city‘s history and layout. Our guide Alison did a tremendous job on both. We very much enjoyed our tour and her deep knowledge provided us with an excellent understanding of Edinburgh.

I'm now looking forward to reading his intriguing book about the Usher ancestry and the significance of his family in Edinburgh's history.

Highly recommend this tour as the perfect way to see Edinburgh and really get a feel for the city. Our guide was Douglas and he was wonderful with an encyclopedic knowledge and infectious love for the place that set the tone for the whole tour! I was on my own in a small group with 3 other couples and we all at some point ended up chatting with each other as we walked around the city. An excellent way to spend a few hours in a beautiful place.
